A Complete Markdown Language Tutorial

In this article let us break it down into Markdown language. A new GitHub user might have noticed a file extension .md in many project directories. For example- README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, and so on.

Let’s explore more on Markdown Syntax.

Markdown Language Syntax

Markdown files are lightweight markup language. HTML is a markup language that is used to build websites, whereas Markdown is used to build online documentation. Markdown is one of the most popular markup languages. It is widely used to document ebooks, webpages formatting, and conversion to formats like HTML, docs, and so on.

Heading

In Markdown, HTML tags are replaced with Hashtag followed by a space and text.

Syntax:

# H1
## H2
### H3
#### H4
##### H5
###### H6

Note: There is whitespace after hashtag ‘#’.

Example

# Anime Vyuh
## A Fusion Of Coding And Anime
### We share Anime Reviews, Character Analysis, and Coding Tutorials.
#### Do share and support
Output:

Anime Vyuh

A Fusion Of Coding And Anime

We share Anime Reviews, Character Analysis, and Coding Tutorials.

Do share and support

Text Emphasis In Markdown Language

To make the specific word or sentence Bold we enclose it within ‘**’ or ‘__’.

Luffy will become __the Pirate King__
Output:

Luffy will become the Pirate King

Italic

To make the specific word or sentence Italic we enclose it within ‘*’ or ‘_’.

*Gintama* is the Best Comedy Anime.
_Grand Blue_ also belongs to the same category.

Bold And Italic Combined

To make the specific word or sentence Bold and Italic enclose it within ‘***’ or ‘_** text **_’.

***Itachi Uchiha*** is a God

Eren Yeager sacrificed himself for his friends.

Hyperlink

The hyperlink is an important element tag that is used to link or connect to an external source. The syntax is very simple:

Syntax:

[Text](link)
Example:
[The Unique Anime Blog](https://animevyuh.org)

Output:

The Unique Anime Blog

Image

Markdown makes it easier to embed the image within the documentation.

Syntax:
![alt](image path/src "text")
or
![alt](image path/src)
![markdown](https://animevyuh.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/markdown_language.webp "markdown language guide")
markdown language

Hyperlink On An Image

This is used to trigger an event after the image is clicked. In the above image embedding, nothing is happening after the image is clicked. Now using both Hyperlink and Image logic, let us combine this two syntax.

Syntax:
[![alt](image)](hyperlink)
[![anything](https://animevyuh.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/markdown_language.webp)](https://animevyuh.org/newsletter)
markdown language

Now the image is clickable and it will redirect you to Anime Vyuh Newsletter, do subscribe to it.

Ordered List

To create an ordered list, the list is started with the number order.

One Piece is the second ``most sold`` comic in the world.
Output:

try:
    print("Anime Vyuh")
except ShareError:
    print ("Do share and support")
```
For JavaScript: js
```js
console.log("Manga are the greatest piece of Art")
